Tra Tien Jasmine Green Tea
Tra Tien Jasmine Tea is a very delicate and sweet tea, strongly imparted with the scent of jasmine flowers. The tea brews to a clear greenish yellow color. Delicious on its own, it nevertheless can be enhanced with the addition of a small amount of sweetener, if desired. When sweetened, this tea makes an excellent dessert. The addition of milk or cream is not recommended, though, because the cream dampens the floral scents.
This Jasmine Green Tea is a popular favorite at Trung Nguyen coffeehouses, where patrons fill up a spent cup of Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Jasmine Iced Tea and enjoy the hint of coffee flavor in the tea.
Try brewing your first cup for 2 minutes at 160-170 degrees. Never boil green tea! This brewing time and temperature is best for bringing out all the subtle flavors of the Jasmine tea without becoming too strong or bitter. After that, you can increase or decrease the time as you prefer.
The base for this tea is medium-leaf "sticks-and-leaves" green tea, slightly steamed and dried. It is absolutely the best green tea of its type that we have found, from all our brokers traveling through Southeast Asia. The green tea is scented by layering between screens of jasmine flowers. Chinese tea buyers have recently tried to buy the entire supply of this company, as its reputation grows and these buyers realize the superior quality of this Vietnamese tea, possibly the purest in the world. To retain the maximum antioxidant health benefits, keep the bag tightly closed using a bag clip. While whole leaf tea will keep for a long time, its antioxidants will gradually lose potency if left exposed to air.
