Shipping Price Guidelines
Some time ago, we converted our websites to Free Shipping over $35. This was, as might be expected, a well-received change.
However, since that time we have seen the costs of our incoming coffee rise twice and the main carriers for shipping, USPS Postal Service and UPS Ground, have increased their rates as much as 40%. UPS added double delivery surcharges to many rural areas and increased rates, and the Post Office increased rates twice officially, and they keep raising selected rates on certain zones and weights unofficially.
Today, a 3.5 pound box going 7 zones in USPS Priority will cost an average of $12.50. That same box last year was about $8.50.
It has been difficult to keep our coffee prices the same and still provide free shipping at any volume! So we have decided to go with a sliding rate that we think will provide savings for our customers and allow us to keep our prices where they are on coffee.
We will discount your shipping (Ground only) by $5 on a $35 purchase, by $7 on a $50 purchase, and we will still offer Free Shipping entirely on orders over $75 to the continental United States. Locations outside the contiguous 48 states, such as Hawaii, will receive half-price shipping on orders over $75. Canada addresses, unfortunately, pay regular price (minus the $7 discount).
We also will continue to offer the Priority Mail Upgrade, in which we take out the Ground rate, and then split the remaining cost with you for the upgrade to the real shipping price for Priority Mail, so you even save money on the Priority Upgrade.
We hope our customers like this new policy, which will enable us to continue to discount shipping over $35 and offer free shipping over $75, and not cause us to have to raise our coffee prices to keep up with rising shipping expense.
Thank you!
